Numerology numbers
Part of every Luna Post fortune is arithmetic: your birthday, and sometimes your name, reduced down to a handful of numbers. Here's what each of those numbers means and how each one is worked out — including the one that changes every month, which is why your postcard doesn't repeat itself.

How each number is calculated
They all use the same move: add the digits, then keep adding until only one digit is left. The exceptions are 11, 22 and 33, which get left standing.
- Life Path
- Reduce the month, the day and the year separately, then add those three together and reduce once more. It's the number people mean when they say "I'm a 7", and it stays with you.
- Birth Day
- The calendar day you were born on, reduced. Read it as one particular knack rather than a whole disposition.
- Expression
- Every letter of your full name, turned into numbers on the Pythagorean chart (A=1, B=2 … I=9, then J=1 and round again), added up and reduced. Read it as what you have to offer.
- Soul Urge
- The vowels of your name only. Read it as what you actually want, as distinct from what you do.
- Personality
- The consonants only. Read it as the version of you other people meet first.
- Personal Year and Personal Month
- Birth month plus birth day plus the current year gives you the Personal Year, and adding the calendar month to that gives you the Personal Month. These are the ones that move. A Personal Month changes twelve times a year, and it's a large part of why two subscribers who share a Life Path still get quite different postcards.
A worked example
Take 14 March 1997. Month: 3. Day: 14 → 1 + 4 = 5. Year: 1997 → 1 + 9 + 9 + 7 = 26 → 2 + 6 = 8. Then 3 + 5 + 8 = 16 → 1 + 6 = 7. A Life Path 7: reflection and inner growth.
The numbers 1 to 9
Every birthday reduces to one of these. They're the vocabulary the rest of numerology is written in.

- 2 patience, balance, and connection
- 3 self-expression and creativity
- 4 steady work and building foundations
- 5 change, freedom, and adventure
- 6 care, home, and responsibility
- 7 reflection and inner growth
- 8 ambition, drive, and getting things done
- 9 completion, release, and letting go
The master numbers
11, 22 and 33 are left standing rather than reduced. Read them as the themes of 2, 4 and 6 turned up loud, and rather harder to carry.
