The Four of Cups card from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck

Cups

Four of Cups

apathy · looking away · an unnoticed offer

Upright

Three cups in front of you, a fourth being handed over, and you're staring at the grass. The Four is that flat stretch where nothing appeals — and the thing on offer that you haven't looked up long enough to see.

Reversed

Reversed, you're usually coming out of it: attention returns and the offer gets noticed. Sometimes it goes the other way and the withdrawal deepens into avoidance.

If this is your card this month

What has been offered to you lately that you barely registered?

A card is a prompt rather than a forecast. It doesn't know what will happen, and the useful part is what you do with the question it hands you. We make that case at more length in not a prediction, a mirror.

Where this card came from

If Four of Cups arrived on a postcard, it was drawn for you for that full moon, and the reflection on the back was written from what it means. And if it didn't, well — that's the other thing we do here: a card and a reflection in your mailbox every full moon.
