The Nine of Cups card from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck

Cups

Nine of Cups

contentment · a wish granted · satisfaction

Upright

Traditionally the wish card. The Nine is getting the thing you asked for and being pleased about it: comfort, plenty, a good result you can sit in. It also asks, kindly, whether the wish was the right one.

Reversed

Reversed, the thing was achieved and came out hollow, or satisfaction keeps needing a top-up. Usually that points at the wish rather than at you.

If this is your card this month

What would actually satisfy you, if you're honest?

A card is a prompt rather than a forecast. It doesn't know what will happen, and the useful part is what you do with the question it hands you. We make that case at more length in not a prediction, a mirror.

Where this card came from

If Nine of Cups arrived on a postcard, it was drawn for you for that full moon, and the reflection on the back was written from what it means. And if it didn't, well — that's the other thing we do here: a card and a reflection in your mailbox every full moon.
