The Seven of Cups card from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck

Cups

Seven of Cups

options · fantasy · too many choices

Upright

Seven cups in the clouds, each holding something different, most of them imaginary. The Seven is the particular paralysis of too many possibilities, and the way the daydream version always looks better than the one you'd have to actually do.

Reversed

Reversed, clarity often arrives at last. Sometimes it's the opposite, and a choice gets made more or less at random simply to escape the choosing.

If this is your card this month

Which of your options is real, and which is a daydream?

A card is a prompt rather than a forecast. It doesn't know what will happen, and the useful part is what you do with the question it hands you. We make that case at more length in not a prediction, a mirror.

Where this card came from

If Seven of Cups arrived on a postcard, it was drawn for you for that full moon, and the reflection on the back was written from what it means. And if it didn't, well — that's the other thing we do here: a card and a reflection in your mailbox every full moon.
