The Seven of Wands card from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck

Wands

Seven of Wands

defending · standing ground · conviction

Upright

You have the high ground and you're going to have to hold it. The Seven is about defending something you earned — a boundary, a decision, a piece of work — against people who are confident you should move.

Reversed

Reversed, it's often defensiveness where no attack was made, or ground given up because holding it had become exhausting. Both are worth noticing without judging yourself for them.

If this is your card this month

What position are you defending, and is it still worth the energy?

A card is a prompt rather than a forecast. It doesn't know what will happen, and the useful part is what you do with the question it hands you. We make that case at more length in not a prediction, a mirror.

Where this card came from

If Seven of Wands arrived on a postcard, it was drawn for you for that full moon, and the reflection on the back was written from what it means. And if it didn't, well — that's the other thing we do here: a card and a reflection in your mailbox every full moon.
