The Six of Pentacles card from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck

Pentacles

Six of Pentacles

giving and receiving · generosity · the scales

Upright

Coins handed down, scales held in the other hand. The Six is the exchange between those who have and those who need, and it asks which side of it you're on this month — and whether that has balanced out over time.

Reversed

Reversed, there are strings attached, or charity is buying control, or you've fallen into a pattern of only ever giving or only ever taking.

If this is your card this month

Are you giving more than you can, or taking without saying so?

A card is a prompt rather than a forecast. It doesn't know what will happen, and the useful part is what you do with the question it hands you. We make that case at more length in not a prediction, a mirror.

Where this card came from

If Six of Pentacles arrived on a postcard, it was drawn for you for that full moon, and the reflection on the back was written from what it means. And if it didn't, well — that's the other thing we do here: a card and a reflection in your mailbox every full moon.
