The Wheel of Fortune card from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck

The Major Arcana

Wheel of Fortune

cycles · turning points · luck

Upright

Things are about to move, and not entirely because of you. The Wheel is the card of timing, chance, and the part of any outcome you didn't earn. What it asks is that you notice which way it's turning and stop pushing against the direction.

Reversed

Reversed, you may be stuck, or fighting a cycle instead of riding it. This one often turns up on a pattern's third or fourth repeat — the thing that keeps happening because nothing about the setup has changed yet.

If this is your card this month

What keeps coming back around, and what stays the same each time?

A card is a prompt rather than a forecast. It doesn't know what will happen, and the useful part is what you do with the question it hands you. We make that case at more length in not a prediction, a mirror.

Where this card came from

If Wheel of Fortune arrived on a postcard, it was drawn for you for that full moon, and the reflection on the back was written from what it means. And if it didn't, well — that's the other thing we do here: a card and a reflection in your mailbox every full moon.
