The The Star card from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck

The Major Arcana

The Star

hope · renewal · quiet faith

Upright

After the worst of something, a little opens up. The Star is the calm that follows a bad stretch — not a rescue, more like water poured steadily back into the ground. It's also a card about being seen honestly and not flinching at it.

Reversed

Reversed, faith is running low, the well feels dry, and hope reads as naivety. What's usually missing is rest, or some reason to believe that doesn't have to be performed for anyone.

If this is your card this month

What has quietly started healing that you haven't given credit to?

A card is a prompt rather than a forecast. It doesn't know what will happen, and the useful part is what you do with the question it hands you. We make that case at more length in not a prediction, a mirror.

Where this card came from

If The Star arrived on a postcard, it was drawn for you for that full moon, and the reflection on the back was written from what it means. And if it didn't, well — that's the other thing we do here: a card and a reflection in your mailbox every full moon.
