The The Magician card from the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck

The Major Arcana

The Magician

will · resourcefulness · making it real

Upright

You may already have everything this needs. The Magician stands at a table holding one of each suit, which is the whole point: the materials are to hand, and the missing ingredient is the decision to use them. It's a card about focused will, and about an idea becoming a thing.

Reversed

Reversed, it often points to talent going nowhere in particular. The skill is real, but it's being spent on the wrong thing, or kept safely as potential, because potential can't fail. Sometimes it's simpler than that, and the same power is being used to convince rather than to build.

If this is your card this month

What do you already have everything you need to begin?

A card is a prompt rather than a forecast. It doesn't know what will happen, and the useful part is what you do with the question it hands you. We make that case at more length in not a prediction, a mirror.

Where this card came from

If The Magician arrived on a postcard, it was drawn for you for that full moon, and the reflection on the back was written from what it means. And if it didn't, well — that's the other thing we do here: a card and a reflection in your mailbox every full moon.
